Behind the writer

Dana Peck

Hi everyone! As I’m sure many of you know my name’s Dana. I’ve spent the better part of the past year and a half living in a vehicle of some sort. Starting in a minivan I upgraded to a bigger van, and then to a truck camper that I now hope to call home for a while.

Living in the camper has been a very rewarding part of my life. I love having the flexibility to travel where ever my heart desires. In the first year it gave me opportunities that I could not be more grateful for. From meeting new friends in Utah to spending a month and a half with old friends, while snowboarding at Silverton with my dad. These experiences are something I wouldn’t trade for the world, and I’m excited to start taking everyone along with me.

Ever since I began traveling it became a big part of my life. Whether it was weekend trips or spending a month sleeping in my tent and car I loved being on the move. I still love being on the move, and even with the drawbacks of truck camper life, it’s worth it for me to be able to move around. There is a lot of places I would like to explore, and being able to spend a few months at a time somewhere with the camper is something I love.

Another thing I love about being in the truck camper is how much my access to the outdoors increases. In the summer there are so many places close to trailheads that I can camp before heading out on a morning hike. In the winter as close as I can get to the resort is the happiest I’ll be.

While the excitement of weekend trips has definitely faded with driving my house around, I love being able to live every day like a camping weekend. Although it’s small, the camper has become a true home that I have grown to love. I hope you can grow to love my camper too.

Behind the camper door

Dana, Hunter, and Sunny

While it was just Sunny and me for a while in the camper, there is a new addition. Hunter is moving into the camper, meaning I will no longer be a solo female traveler (or single cat mom). While I am still the only writer for the blog, most of the photography will be his, and all of the adventures will be enjoyed by him as well. Sunny enjoys all of the driving adventures, but doesn’t make it on every outdoor one with us.

The only two things I love more than the camper would be the two of them, so it only feels right to include them in the about page. They make life so much happier to live and the camper a little less lonely.

For those of you who knew me as NY Adventure Gal, the rename has so much to do with the love I have for my cat. Adopting Sunny was the best responsibility I’ve ever taken on. Although he won’t live forever, he’ll always be the best part of my young adult life, and I don’t know if I would have loved the camper so much without a little companion to remind me of how much I love adventuring on the hard days. Anyone that knows Sunny loves him, and I hope you all get to know and love him through this blog.
